If you are trying to publish your web with FrontPage to the main “www” directory, but your pages end up in a directory outside of the “www” directory then the following steps may help.

To publish your web:

1. Select ‘File’ > ‘Publish FrontPage Web’
2. Enter ‘http://www.your_domain_name.com” for the Location
3. For the web name, select “”

This should publish your site to the main ‘www’ directory. If not, you may need to create a new FrontPage Web and select as the web name. If you name it ‘anything_else’, it will publish your entire site to the sub-directory ‘anything_else’, outside of your main “www” directory.

If you are using FrontPage 2000, make sure that your main Web is the top level directory, and not a sub-directory outside of the Main Web. If it is, FrontPage will publish your entire site to a sub-directory outside of your main website with the same name as the sub-directory on your computer.

To publish your site with FrontPage 2000-2002:

1. Open your site locally through FrontPage.

2. From the file menu at the top of FrontPage, click on ‘File’ > ‘Open Web’

3. Select the FrontPage web you want to open and click on ‘Open’

4. When the web loads into FrontPage, click on ‘File’ > ‘Publish Web’

5. Enter the destination web server (i.e. www.your_domain.com) then click ‘Publish’.

6. Enter the FrontPage username/password for your account.

This is the best way to publish your site. In this way, a local copy is kept on your hard drive, which is important.

The first thing you probably want to do is to register your new domain or transfer your existing domain name. You are all set to FTP / upload your site, once you receive the e-mail with the account information. Use the IP number from your e-mail until the domain name works in the browser.

The first thing you probably want to do is to register your new domain or transfer your existing domain name. The FrontPage extensions are installed on default with virtual accounts. In case, if FrontPage asks for an FTP address, that means extensions are not installed. Please send us a support ticket and we will take care of the rest.

When you publish, use the IP address from your e-mail until the domain name has been transferred and works in the browser.
