Physical
security for safeguarding your site and data
At our datacenter in
Chicago, the latest in camera systems monitors
both interior and exterior facilities around the clock.
Access is limited to authorized personnel only, and
strictly enforced by electronic access cards, biometrics
scanning, and guards.
Environmental control features for maximum reliability
To reduce web hosting
downtime, our centers feature advanced fire suppression
systems, surge suppression, specialized heat and smoke
sensors, separate fire zones below the floor and above
the ceiling, raised flooring for improved server environment,
as well as temperature, humidity, static and airborne
particle controls.
Redundant systems to maximize your connectivity and
uptime
We build in redundancy to ensure that your site is
open for business. This includes Cisco routers, Layer
2 and 3 switches, our power system generator in addition
to our regular grid electrical power, and our backbone.
Each server is protected by our fire suppression system
and multiple air conditioning systems (HVAC: Heating
Ventilation Air Conditioning). In addition, we keep
a supply of drives, network cards, processors, motherboards
and every other piece of equipment that has even a
remote chance of failure. We also use a multiple-SCSI
backup cluster system for data storage and recovery.

questions online and on the telephone and troubleshoot
any problems.

Our
datacenter in
London, UK is fully switched, with multiple
redundant routers, and multiple connections
to different ISPs, allowing us to provide absolute
availability of the network with no down time.
Our uk dedicated
servers are all located in carrier-neutral
data centers in Docklands, London. We use exclusively
Redbus data centers, due to their class-leading
SLA, security and power facilities. Redbus also
has the great advantage of being carrier-neutral,
allowing us to connect to several providers
for redundancy. The network is designed around
a high-speed switched architecture. Each server
is plugged into at least a 100mbit, fully-switched
port on an edge switch.

Each edge switch is then in turn plugged into two separate
aggregation switches at 1gbit, with fail-over redundancy
allowing either 1gbit link to fail.

Security
Our UK datacenter
feature totally comprehensive 24/7 security. This includes
the protection of security barriers, 24x7x365 monitoring
by on-site personnel to include visual verification
of all persons entering the building, CCTV video camera
surveillance and a security breach alarm provides the
control room with information. All persons entering
the data floor have proximity tags to gain access which
are logged and verified.
Power
Within our London datacenter,
we have a scalable and sustainable power supply. A minimum
of 1Kw per square meter secure power is available, with
power isolated between customer and maintained indefinitely,
plus on-site generation which can deal with both customer
and plant load whilst recharging the UPS. All the facilities
are built to at least an N+1 standard; put simply, this
means that if two generators are required to provide
nonstop power, then therell be three installed.
So rather than guaranteeing 99.99% availability, the
guarantee is 100%.
Fire Protection
The fire detection and suppression system is one of
the most advanced available. Very Early Smoke Detection
Apparatus (VESDA) is installed in every facility. These
highly sensitive aspirating smoke detectors are linked
to the Building Management system which is monitored
continually from a network operations center, provide
very early detection. This is coupled with a gas based
fire retardant that is environmentally friendly, to
put out fires instantly, without damaging equipment.
Air Conditioning
To ensure optimum performance for your UK
dedicated server, all data floors are maintained
at a constant 21°C ± 2°C and relative
humidity is kept at 50% ± 10%. Both are continually
monitored via the building management system.
